Logic puzzle
How to play Tango Game
Tango Game is a free logic puzzle that you play in your browser, with nothing to install and no account to create. You fill a 6×6 grid with suns and moons until every rule below holds at once. Each puzzle has exactly one solution, and you can reach it by reasoning alone, one cell at a time, without ever needing to guess.
The rules
- Balance each line. Every row and every column holds three suns and three moons on the 6×6 board.
- No three in a row. Never place three identical symbols next to each other in a row or a column.
- = joins matching cells. Two cells with = between them hold the same symbol: both suns or both moons.
- × joins opposite cells. Two cells with × between them hold different symbols: one sun and one moon.
- Given symbols are fixed. The suns and moons already on the board when the puzzle starts are part of it and can’t be changed.
Diagonals don’t count for the no-three rule, and two symbols side by side are fine. Two rows, or two columns, may even end up identical, as long as every rule above still holds.
Placing symbols
Press Play on the puzzle’s cover to reveal the board and start the timer. Tap or click an empty cell to place a sun, tap it again to turn it into a moon, and tap once more to clear it. The given cells stay as they are whatever you do, so you can tap freely without breaking the puzzle.
The board doesn’t flag rule breaks as you go. It lets you place any symbol, and a mistake only shows up when you ask for a Hint. The moment the last cell completes a board where every rule holds, the timer stops and the puzzle is solved.
Reading the board
Start with what the puzzle already tells you. Look at the given symbols first, then at the = and × markers that touch them: a marker next to a known cell settles its partner straight away. A line that already holds several givens is the next best place to look, because it has the fewest choices left.
Work line by line and keep returning to lines you’ve changed. Every symbol you place adds a fact to its row and to its column, and that new fact often unlocks a cell you couldn’t decide a moment ago.
Solving tips
Complete a full line. When a row or column already has three suns, every empty cell left in it is a moon, and the same works the other way round.
Split a pair. Two matching symbols side by side must be fenced in: the cells just before and just after the pair take the opposite symbol.
Fill a gap. Two matching symbols with one empty cell between them leave that cell only one choice, the opposite symbol, or the line would hold three in a row.
Carry symbols across markers. As soon as one cell of an = or × pair is known, so is the other: the same symbol across =, the opposite symbol across ×. Chains of markers pass a single known symbol along several cells.

How the Daily puzzle works
A new puzzle every day
A new Daily puzzle comes out every day at 00:00 UTC, and every player in the world gets the same one. The Daily follows the UTC calendar rather than your own clock, so depending on where you live the new puzzle arrives in the morning, the afternoon or the evening. A puzzle is only ever the Daily once; each day brings a different board.
Because everyone plays the same board on the same UTC day, you can compare times with friends, or talk through a tricky deduction, knowing you all solved exactly the same grid.
Which puzzle you are playing
The status row above the board names the puzzle like an issue of a puzzle book: its number, the mode and its date, for example “No. 42 · Daily · 11 Feb 2026”. Every number belongs to one day, counting from No. 1, the Daily of 1 January 2026. The same number always means the same puzzle, so you can name it when you share it.
When to choose the Archive or Unlimited
The Daily is one puzzle a day, so it has no Next puzzle. Missed a day, or want to try last week’s boards? Every past Daily waits in the Archive, one month per page. Want to keep going right now? Tango Game Unlimited serves a random puzzle that is already out, and another one whenever you ask.
The controls
Undo takes back your last move, one move at a time. Hint shows a mistake first: it marks one wrong cell and, when that cell visibly breaks a rule, names the rule. On a correct board it marks a cell you can work out next and explains its symbol and the reason. It never fills a cell for you. Reset clears every symbol you placed and restarts the timer from zero.
The timer starts when you press Play, counts up in minutes and seconds and stops the moment the puzzle is solved. Using Hint doesn’t change your time or your result.
When you solve the puzzle, the success dialog shows your time, your personal best for that puzzle and your Streak, the number of UTC days in a row on which you’ve solved at least one puzzle. Your Streak and best times are kept in this browser only, with no sign-up, so another browser or device starts without them. From the dialog, Share result sends the puzzle’s number, your time and a link to that puzzle, and the links under Keep playing take you to Unlimited or the Archive.
FAQ
Is Tango Game free?
Yes, Tango Game is free to play. It runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to install and no account to create.
How do I play Tango Game?
Fill the 6×6 grid so that every row and column has three suns and three moons, no three identical symbols sit side by side, and every = and × marker holds. Tap a cell for a sun, again for a moon, and once more to clear it.
Is there a new Tango Game puzzle every day?
Yes, a new Daily puzzle comes out every day at 00:00 UTC. It is the same puzzle for every player, wherever they are.
Can I play yesterday’s puzzle?
Yes, yesterday’s puzzle and every earlier Daily are in the Archive. Pick the month, then the day, and the puzzle plays just like the Daily.
What do the = and × signs mean?
An = between two cells means they hold the same symbol, and a × means they hold opposite symbols. Once you know one cell of a marked pair, you know the other.
What does Hint do?
Hint points you to your next step without filling a cell. If a symbol you placed is wrong, it marks that cell first; otherwise it marks a cell you can work out next and explains which symbol goes there and why.
